Sveti Tomaž

The municipality of Sveti Tomaž lies on the outskirts of Slovenske gorice. The municipality prides itself in unspoiled nature, where you can find many opportunities for rest or relaxation (hiking, biking, etc.).

Visitors with camper vans are well catered for. A popular gathering place for sport fishermen is the pond in Savci, which offers its visitors the opportunity to enjoy the sights of beautiful nature or to engage in leisure activities, for example fishing and walking. You can enjoy a beautiful view from Gomila, the highest peak of the eastern Slovenske gorice, with a lookout tower that is 17.5 meters high. In addition to the exceptional nature, the place has managed to preserve its cultural heritage.

Two great men were born in the municipality; the writer and priest Fran Ksaver Meško and dr. Stanko Cajnkar, both of whom were important for the Slovenian literature and contributed to the recognition of their town. The cultural heritage is also being preserved by means of the Ethnological Collection of Old Objects, which shows us how people worked and lived in the past.

Visitors are often surprised by the only Prlekija ski resort, Globoki klanec, which is also called the "Ski resort among vineyards".
