Ormož Basins Nature Reserve and Lake Ormož

Surrender your body and soul to nature and relax by the sound of birds in the Ormož Basins Nature Reserve. A walk along the shore of Lake Ormož will fill you with energy and new strength.

The greater town of Ormož offers a true nature experience; to make it even better, we recommend that you use a bicycle (it is possible to rent one at the Tourist and Information Centre Ormož in the Ormož Castle). You can also go there by car or on foot.

South of the town of Ormož runs the Drava river, which forms Lake Ormož. You can cycle or walk along the lakeshore all the way to the Ormož Basins Nature Reserve, which is an outstanding wildlife sanctuary. In addition to numerous birds, the Reserve is also a sanctuary for water buffalo, which still live freely and graze on the embankments. This is a paradise for ornithologists, nature and peace lovers as well as hikers.
